About Kelsey

Kelsey's great-grandfather built the barn in 1893. By the time she inherited it, the roof leaked and the only thing inside was a hay wagon. She spent 2020 and 2021 restoring it with a local Amish timber-frame crew, and The Hayloft on Darby booked its first wedding in the spring of 2022.

The venue seats 220 for dinner and hosts about 60 weddings a year. A growing share of the calendar is corporate: team retreats, client appreciation nights, and company picnics for businesses tired of hotel ballrooms. There's a covered patio, a fire pit, two getting-ready suites, and a preferred vendor list full of Surge members.

Kelsey hosted Surge's summer mixer this year and is already planning the next one. She is a founding member of the Plain City chapter.

I shot a client appreciation night for an engineering firm at the Hayloft in June. Kelsey had a printed timeline for every vendor and moved the toast 15 minutes so the sun would come through the west doors, and the barn looked better on camera than any hotel ballroom I've worked.

A family reunion I was planning for 58 people lost its hotel ballroom three weeks out to a double booking. Kelsey opened the Hayloft for the same Saturday and had tables, rentals and a shuttle plan to the hotel ready by the end of that week.

A salon client of mine wanted a staff party for 60 and was dreading another banquet room. Kelsey handled the rentals, the timeline and a late headcount change without blinking, and the salon got enough photos out of the barn to fill its feed through September.

Our church choir's 50th anniversary dinner had 130 guests and a budget put together by volunteers. Kelsey gave us a weeknight rate, let the pie committee bring their own desserts, and set up the barn so the choir could sing from the loft.
