About Roy

Rogelio "Roy" Castañeda came to Ohio from Michoacán in 1996 and went to work on an excavating crew in Hilliard. He learned to run every machine in the yard, became a foreman, and started Castañeda Excavating in 2018 with one mini excavator and a dump truck.

The company now runs three excavators and a dozer. Roy's crews do site prep for new homes, septic installs and replacements, driveways, ponds, and a lot of drainage work: field tile repair, French drains, and regrading yards that flood every spring. He works with several builders in the chapter and is often the first contractor on a lot and the last one off it.

Roy's two sons work in the business. His daughter is in engineering school and reviews his bids.

My horse pasture outside Plain City held water for a week after every rain. Roy's crew repaired 600 feet of broken field tile in two days, and Escrow the goat was the only one who objected.

Shannon Kerr Big Darby Mortgage

Our west play yard turned into a pond every spring, and wet dogs mean a lot of extra baths. Roy regraded it and put in a French drain over three days in July, and after the storm in late August the yard was dry by morning.

Mariana Flores Darby Dog Lodge

I tell every buyer of a wooded lot to call Roy before the inspection period ends. On a 15-acre parcel near Irwin this summer he walked the ground with my buyers, found where the septic could go, and priced the driveway in a single visit.

Luke Brandt Brandt Land & Home

On a wet lot near Plain City in June, Roy redesigned the septic layout on site with the county sanitarian and saved my client about $8,000. He's the first contractor on most of my lots and the last one off.

We've dug foundations and septic systems on six of Nathan's lots. He's on site every morning, so when we hit clay at four feet, the decision takes ten minutes instead of two days.
