About Marcus

Marcus spent the first twelve years of his career as an actuary, pricing risk for other people's money. He became a CFP® after helping his parents untangle their retirement accounts and noticing how few advisors explained anything in plain English.

His firm is fee-only, so he doesn't sell products or earn commissions. Clients pay a flat annual fee and get a plan covering taxes, retirement, insurance and college savings, reviewed every quarter. About half are business owners who have outgrown a SEP IRA and are sending the IRS far more than they need to.

Marcus's family moved to Columbus from Lagos when he was eight. He coaches U10 soccer in Powell and keeps a spreadsheet for everything, including the team's snack rotation.

For years my retirement plan was a SEP IRA and a very large check to the IRS every April. Marcus replaced it with a 401(k) and profit-sharing plan that covers my crew leads too, and my tax bill this spring was about $19k lower.

I plan retirement income for teachers and county workers, so when a Plain City client's son asked about retirement plans for his trucking company, I sent him to Marcus. Marcus set up a cash balance plan that takes $140k off his taxable income this year.

We share about a dozen clients now, and Marcus builds the retirement plan while I handle the return. He sends me contribution numbers before December 31, which puts him ahead of most advisors I work with.
